Bloom With Creativity

Spring is my second favorite season. I love watching our rhododendrons bloom and our wild roses take over their flower beds and grow up the split rail fence. I have snipped some flowers from our garden and brought them inside to display on our kitchen table. Bringing life and color into our home always inspires me to be more creative.

Although music has been woven into the fabric of my life since birth, it has only been in recent years that I’ve begun to write and record my own music. It is a scary thing, putting yourself out there, hoping the thoughts and emotions in your heart are coming out the way you imagined them in your head. I can sing cover songs all day long and never feel the least bit timid, but let me stand in front of you and play something I wrote… It is the most vulnerable experience of all.

Each song I write is personal, revealing something I’ve lived through or something I care deeply about. I don’t know how to do it any other way – I have to write about what I know. It is always my hope that by sharing my music, maybe I am helping someone else express what they’ve wanted to say but couldn’t form the words. I hope I am making the listener’s heart just a little lighter.

My newest CD will be a collection of all original songs. Made with love and from the heart, it will be called, “Homemade.” I still have a lot of work to do, but the creative journey that has gotten me to this point has been life-changing. I am eager to share this labor of love with all of you.

To those of you who joined me for my Facebook Live Quarantine Concerts, thank you! Although the series has come to a close, the concert videos are available on my Facebook page if you’d like to watch again or share with a friend. From this experience I received my first piece of physical fan mail (thank you Amy and Rob!) which warms my heart. Nothing thrills me more than to know that my music has touched lives!
